Rob Bresnahan Earns Endorsement of Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters

PITTSTON, PA — Congressman Rob Bresnahan has earned the endorsement of the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, which represents union carpenters across Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C. This includes Scranton-based Carpenters Local 445, which represents carpenters, millwrights, pile drivers, cabinet makers, floor coverers, and interior systems workers across the 17 counties of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

In a letter announcing the endorsement, Executive Secretary-Treasurer William C. Sproule cited Bresnahan's commitment to strengthening the region's infrastructure, supporting apprenticeship opportunities and workforce development, and investing in the workforce that builds and maintains NEPA's communities. The Council praised Bresnahan's efforts to advance responsible economic development, protect workers' rights, and ensure federal investments create high-quality jobs, along with his support for fair labor standards and against practices that undermine workers and law-abiding contractors.

Bob Brooks Has a Troubling Financial History, and He's Ducking Debates to Hide This From Voters

In July, Townhall reported that Bob Brooks , the Democrat running for the House in Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District, has a history of financial troubles. That report stems from suspicious donations sent to his campaign and ongoing litigation over property transferred to his current wife to avoid paying his former in-laws a $130,000 debt.

But it seems that's not the only financial trouble Brooks has had. In fact, court records show multiple financial issues, including foreclosures, liens, and debt collections.

On June 16, 2004, Blue Eagle Custom Builders, Inc. filed a lien naming Robert Brooks in Northampton County Court . That lien was released the same day. The reason for the lien's release is unclear. But in October 2005, Brooks filed a lawsuit against Blue Eagle Custom Builders , Inc. That case was disposed in 2007.

In 2012, Wells Fargo filed a foreclosure against Brooks . That case was discontinued without prejudice in 2018. That same year, another lien was filed against Brooks, this time involving Midland Funding. That lien was in the amount of $5,480.84 . The case remains open, although the status is unclear, but a 2019 filing showed the court directed the sheriff to garnish Brooks' assets to satisfy this debt. A second judgment was entered against Brooks in 2012, this time involving a debt-collection case with FIA Card Services. That judgment was in the amount of $7,872.59 and reported as satisfied in 2024.

U.S. Bank also filed a second foreclosure against Brooks in June 2016. That case was closed in December 2016.

The $130,000 court-ordered judgment against Brooks isn't going away, either. The balance on that debt has now grown to over $162,000 while the lawsuit works its way through the courts. On August 5, a Northampton County judge ruled that the fraud lawsuit against Brooks — brought by his former in-laws — may proceed. Brooks continues to deny any wrongdoing in that case.

But what's most concerning is Brooks' federal financial disclosures. His original 2025 disclosure failed to list that judgment on that disclosure.

One of Brooks' Democrat opponents, Ryan Crosswell, called out Brooks for his falsified disclosure, specifically in relation to the $130,000 judgment.

"Because he didn't include it in his previous disclosures, voters only learned about it when his mother-in-law filed a fraud lawsuit against him in February," Crosswell wrote. "Only then did his campaign admit they intentionally didn't disclose this debt in their House Ethics filing." Crosswell then linked to a piece in the Lehigh Valley News covering that lawsuit .

Brooks also failed to list a pension that he bragged about having from his time as a firefighter with the city of Bethlehem. While that page is no longer accessible, Brooks said "I personally have a good pension from 20 years of working for the City of Bethlehem as a firefighter, but I'm one of the lucky ones. Every hardworking American, especially young people, should be afforded the opportunity to get a pension, and that starts by passing the PRO Act and giving everyone the chance to join a union." Divorce records also show Brooks had a 457 retirement account through the City of Bethlehem.

With the election two months away and mail-in voting starting soon, Pennsylvania voters deserve to know what's going on with Brooks and his financial history. But Brooks wants to hide this from the public, and has — so far — refused to debate his Republican opponent, Rep. Ryan Mackenzie.

Mackenzie has agreed to multiple debate opportunities in September so that voters can hear from both candidates on the issues. Brooks has either declined or ignored these opportunities. Instead, Brooks has agreed to a debate arrangement that would have part of the debate not air until just before Election Day.

Is Brooks hiding from voters because he doesn't want to answer questions about his financial history, court proceedings, and financial disclosures?

While Ryan Mackenzie is ready to debate, Brooks is delaying facing voters. And voters in Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District deserve accountability, transparency, and the full story before they cast a single ballot.

Garrity Comments On Tragic Lancaster County Deaths And Responds To Josh Shapiro’s Political Theater

HARRISBURG, PA – State Treasurer and Republican nominee for Governor Stacy Garrity (R-PA) issued the following statement in response to Governor Josh Shapiro’s (D-PA) proposed public-health mandates and his irresponsible press conference following tragic deaths in Lancaster County.

Stacy Garrity said: “Josh Shapiro recently proposed public health mandates that would make draconian COVID-era restrictions blush. Among other measures, his proposed regulatory scheme would allow his Department of Health henchmen to conduct warrantless searches of private property, access patients’ confidential medical records, and require schools to give those officials one-on-one, private access to students.”

Shapiro took his irresponsible behavior to the next level on Tuesday when he prematurely held a press conference claiming that two deaths in Lancaster County were as a result of a measles outbreak. However, as reported by LNP , Shapiro’s press conference took the Lancaster County coroner by “surprise” because as of Thursday the coroner’s office still had zero measles deaths.

“Earlier this week, he demonstrated just how dangerous his proposed mandates could be when he held a highly staged partisan press conference in Lancaster County to discuss the deaths of two Pennsylvanians, but became dismissive when questioned about the actual facts.

Today, there are still more questions than answers, largely because Josh Shapiro refuses to share the relevant information – proving once again that he is the least transparent governor in modern Pennsylvania history.

Lost amid Josh Shapiro’s political theater is the tragedy of two deaths, including that of a newborn who never had a chance to experience life. My heart aches for the families and friends mourning the loss of their loved ones, and they will remain in my prayers.

If I were governor today, I’d be working closely with ALL Lancaster County and federal officials – regardless of political party – using facts, not fear, to inform the public and protect public health. I would certainly not be bickering with local and federal officials or acting like I can go it alone,” Garrity continued.

Shapiro’s irresponsible press conference comes on the heels of outrage sparked over his proposed public-health mandates that have entered a public comment period. Serious concerns have been raised over the Shapiro Administration’s proposal and its potential infringement on privacy and individual liberties.

“Josh Shapiro clearly hasn’t learned anything about sound public health policy, creating trust, or communications in the last six years – and it shows. He’s pretending to be a strong governor because he’s just not good at being a good governor.

Authority over public health is too consequential to be concentrated in the hands of one person – especially someone so willing and eager to turn matters of life and death into partisan political theater.

I urge Josh Shapiro to immediately withdraw his oppressive proposed regulatory overreach scheme and work with the legislature and others to protect both individual rights and public health. Pennsylvania voters rejected his dictatorial style of public health overreach during COVID, and they will do so again if necessary,” Garrity concluded.

Paige Cognetti’s Allies Attack Rob Bresnahan for Raising Money for Breast Cancer

Pittston, PA — It started with an ad highlighting Paige Cognetti’s radical agenda and ties to Action Together NEPA, a group she has personally joined and accepted its endorsement, and which pushes to eliminate school bathroom protections for girls and let boys compete in girls’ sports.

But Cognetti and the Democrats’ true colors were further exposed this week when drag performer Chlamydia Berns objected to the use of a photo with Cognetti that was posted to the City of Scranton’s official Instagram account in 2025. Berns began raising money for a legal effort to challenge the use of the image in the ad. When asked about the controversy, the Cognetti campaign declined to comment.

Now, Cognetti is silent while her allies brag about “rediscovering a charity video” of Congressman Bresnahan purchasing heels for the Paint Pittston Pink Gentlemen’s Dash , attempting to equate a drag performance in front of children and families with men putting on heels to raise money for breast cancer research.

The Gentlemen’s Dash is a longstanding community fundraiser that brings local men together to put on heels and raise money in the fight against breast cancer. In 2023 alone, 13 participants raised more than $75,000 through the event.

Make no mistake about what this is: an attempt to change the subject.

Instead of addressing the ideology and policies raised in the ad, Cognetti remains silent while her allies try to turn Bresnahan’s participation in a breast cancer fundraiser into political ammunition.

For Rob and Chelsea Bresnahan, cancer is not an abstract political talking point. They have watched loved ones battle cancer in the past and continue to stand alongside family fighting the disease today, and they know exactly what fundraisers like the Gentlemen’s Dash mean to patients and families. Long before Rob ever ran for Congress, he was showing up for Northeastern Pennsylvania, raising money and supporting organizations that help people here at home.

And that may be the biggest irony of Cognetti’s allies’ attack: in their attempt to embarrass Bresnahan, they instead highlighted his longstanding record of giving back to the community years before he ever held public office.

Responding to Expected Cognetti Spin

The following stats are pulled from the Pennsylvania Uniform Crime Reporting System without spin.

Violent Crime, Overall

She'll cite a WVIA article stating that crime is down . That figure only works because 2021 was cherry-picked as the starting point, the year after she took office, and it erases everything before it. Her own police chief's numbers still show violent crime rising 15.5% in 2022 and 1.5% in 2024 inside that same window. Compare her tenure to what came before it, 2019-2024 versus 2013-2018, and homicides, rapes, and arson all rose.

Homicides

She'll point to a better 2025 and note two of the seven 2024 homicides were vehicular. Homicides still rose from 11 (2013-2018) to 14 (2019-2024), a 27% increase confirmed by WVIA against federal and state data. From 2021-2025 alone, the city recorded 15 homicides, and 2024 was the deadliest year in Scranton in over a decade, the same year a Scranton detective was shot in the line of duty. One better year doesn't erase that record, and recasting two homicides as "just vehicular" doesn't make them less deadly.

Rapes

She'll blame a 2021 reporting methodology change that reclassified assaults as rapes. If that were the real driver, aggravated assault numbers should have dropped sharply once the change took effect and stayed down. They didn't: 169 (2021), 165 (2022), 142 (2023), 114 (2024), 139 (2025), essentially flat. Reported rapes still rose 62% between 2019 and 2024, confirmed by WVIA. A flat assault line and a soaring rape line together mean this isn't just paperwork.

Arson

Arson cases rose 116% from 2019 to 2024, confirmed by WVIA using the city's own reported figures.

 Guns and Ammunition

She will try to say that she didn’t disarm the police. That doesn't erase what her administration actually did: cut the guns and ammunition budget from $43,500 to $20,000 in 2021, a cut of more than 50%, after engaging with anti-police activist groups. City Council, not Cognetti, added a separate $23,629 "special operations ammunition" line item that year to patch the hole. She did not sign the 2021 budget. She let it become law without her signature specifically because she objected to Council restoring that ammunition funding. She can say now she doesn't want to disarm police, but her 2020 comments and her refusal to sign the budget that funded them tell a different story about where she actually stood when it counted.

Second Major Stelson Donor Who Advocates for CCP

NEW CUMBERLAND – First, Janelle Stelson (D-Lancaster) accepted the support of a political action committe e funded by Reid Hoffman, the LinkedIn founder and close associate of Jeffrey Epstein, who traveled extensively to Epstein’s myriad properties – including his notorious island. Then, we learn that Stelson accepted maximum donations from the son and daughter-in-law of anti-American and radical Socialist George Soros, who sit on the board of the Soros-funded Open Society Foundation that funneled $37 million to extremist groups backing radical New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Reports this morning show that Stelson’s uncle, John W. Allen , who also has longstanding ties to the Soros Family, and who spent his business career advancing Chinese interests, donated thousands to her two congressional campaigns. Allen is an advisor with ChinaWise USA and served as CEO of the Greater China Corporation, a New York-based investment firm that “utillizes its significant relationships in the U.S., China, and around the World to assist its partners to benefit from China’s prosperity,” according to its now-defunct website.

According to the Free Beacon , Allen also is a trustee with the nonprofit Chinese Cultural Foundation, a position in which he has built long-standing personal relationships with Beijing officials and Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members. Allen routinely spoke with the CCP-operated Xinhua News Agency, which has been described as the “world’s biggest propaganda agency…at the heart of censorship and disinformation put in place by the Communist party,” and where he advocated for CCP policies like the “Belt and Road Initiative,” CCP’s global infrastructure project.

This isn’t the first time Janelle Stelson has accepted contributions from individuals associated with the CCP. She received thousands from Pin Ni , a car executive and apparent active member of the CCP.

Scott Perry has spent his career fighting the Chinese Communist Party threat to the United States, as well as its human rights abuses against the Chinese people. Perry has introduced legislation to stop China from selling military hardware to the U.S., while cosponsoring legislation to help Taiwan defend itself from Communist China . He’s also authored the Falun Gong Protection Act , which passed the House, sanctions Communist China for its forced organ harvesting practices.

The difference in this race is clear:

Scott Perry fights for America against the Chinese Communist Party.

Janelle Stelson is a puppet of the Chinese Communist Party and couldn’t care less about America.

Josh Shapiro took his eye off the ball at a time when the state Supreme Court had given the Governor and the legislature a 120 day stay to pass a constitutional remedy for its ruling in the Commonwealth v. Lee – which found that automatic life-without-parole sentences in Second-Degree murder cases violated the state’s constitution. The Pennsylvania State Senate passed a bipartisan bill that addressed this issue, but Shapiro’s allies in the Democratically controlled State House thumbed their nose at this bipartisan legislation – all the while Shapiro has said nothing.

Bresnahan Earns Unified Endorsement from Four Maritime Unions

Pittston, PA - Congressman Rob Bresnahan today announced the unified endorsement of his re-election campaign by four national maritime labor unions representing the licensed and unlicensed merchant mariners who keep America's commercial fleet moving: the American Maritime Officers (AMO), the International Organization of Masters, Mates & Pilots (MM&P), the Marine Engineers' Beneficial Association (MEBA), and the Seafarers International Union (SIU). Paige Cognetti, the mayor of Scranton, Pennsylvania, who Democrats hope will unseat Republican Rep. Rob Bresnahan this November, has repeatedly pledged not to take money from corporate political action committees as a candidate or lawmaker.

“No Corporate PAC Money. As a candidate and member of Congress I will reject the influence of special interests,” Cognetti wrote on her campaign website.

But federal campaign finance filings show Cognetti has accepted donations from numerous political committees that themselves are awash in cash from corporate PACs, including money from defense contractor Boeing, banking giant JPMorgan Chase and insurance company UnitedHealthcare.

Many of the non-corporate political committees supporting Cognetti are leadership PACs operated by Democratic federal lawmakers to boost their party’s congressional candidates.

During her 2026 campaign to represent Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District, Cognetti has, for example, taken $5,000 from Blue Hen Federal PAC , a committee sponsored by Sen. Chris Coons (D-Delaware).

Coons’ committee has received hundreds of thousands of dollars this election cycle from a who’s who of corporate and trade association PACs tied to companies such as Visa , FedEx , Pfizer , Northrop Grumman , Eli Lilly, Google , McKinsey and Fox News parent Fox Corp. , among several dozen others.

Cognetti’s campaign has also received $4,000 from the campaign committee of House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark, which itself is partly bankrolled by numerous corporate PACs, including those sponsored by Delta Air Lines , Verizon , Allstate Insurance and law and lobbying firm Alston & Bird .

Cognetti took money from dozens of these leadership PACs that report significant corporate contributions — including the PACs of Rep. Ted Lieu, the House Democratic Caucus vice chair, and Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the former speaker.

“Paige is the only candidate in this race who does not accept donations from corporate PACs, supports a federal ban on corporate PAC donations, and will never be handed a corporate check in exchange for special access or political favors,” Emma Mustion, the campaign’s communications director, said. “The reason for her pledge is simple: Paige is independent and doesn’t work for anybody but the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania.”

Cognetti’s pledge to reject corporate PAC money has become a key feature of her campaign, and is cited in endorsements from advocacy groups such as End Citizens United and lawmakers including Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Arizona).

Campaign finance and other money matters are key issues in the race between Cognetti and Bresnahan. Cognetti has repeatedly hit Bresnahan, who accepts direct corporate PAC money, for his once-prolific stock trading — the multimillionaire with his own helicopter made more than 650 individual stock trades during 2025, according to federal records.

Among them, he traded stock in companies that manage Medicaid just before the House took its first vote on Republicans’ sweeping tax cut bill that slashed the program. He has also personally invested in artificial intelligence companies before advocating for data centers .

NOTUS previously reported that Bresnahan abruptly stopped trading stocks earlier this year . At the time, a spokesperson said a financial institution managed Bresnahan’s stock trades.

“Only a slick politician like Paige Cognetti would make a promise to reject corporate PAC money a centerpiece of her campaign only to find a loophole to accept it,” Samantha Bullock, a spokesperson for Bresnahan’s campaign, said in a statement to NOTUS.

Federal records show Cognetti had $3.4 million cash on hand, besting Bresnahan’s $2.6 million war chest, as of June 30. The nonpartisan Cook Political Report rates the race between Bresnahan and Cognetti as a toss-up. National Republicans and Democrats alike consider the race critical to winning a House majority in 2027.

Cognetti, for her part, continues to run on an anti-corruption platform that includes banning members of Congress from trading individual stocks, instituting term limits for federal lawmakers, withholding lawmakers’ pay throughout government shutdowns and prohibiting members of Congress from making bets in prediction markets.

Other candidates have been criticized in the past for accepting similar contributions. Democrat Abigail Spanberger, now the governor of Virginia, campaigned on rejecting corporate PAC money while running for Congress in 2022 — and was slammed at the time for taking money from leadership PACs.

SB1400, which is endorsed by the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association and Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday (R-PA), establishes a constitutional sentencing framework that preserves accountability for serious crimes. The legislation recognizes varying degrees of participation in felony murder cases while continuing to prioritize public safety and victims’ rights.

The court stayed its ruling in Commonwealth v. Lee for 120 days, giving the General Assembly until July 24 ^th to pass a constitutional remedy before the current sentencing framework is invalidated. That deadline has now passed.

Shapiro has flip-flopped on issue after issue, changed his rhetoric depending on who he’s talking to, and failed to deliver time-and-again for our Commonwealth. Gov. Josh Shapiro was for school choice until he was against it. He vetoed the legislation when it arrived on his desk…

… Shapiro’s chameleon-like behavior on school choice is instructive for other divisive issues. From natural gas development (for it, against it, then for it – if it’s part of an all-of-the-above approach … but it has to be heavily regulated) to attempts to ban men from playing girls’ sports (he won’t declare if he’d sign such a bill; then adds that he doesn’t want biological men to have an “unfair advantage,” but adds that the bill’s sponsors are “extremists”).

He’s had almost as many positions on data centers.

There are lots of opinions that one can have on education, school choice, natural gas, energy, genders and sports, and data centers. Shapiro has held them all.

His legacy media friends cite his flexible rhetoric and being all things to all people to label him as a “moderate,” when they think that helps his chances at re-election, or even becoming president.

False. Being a moderate doesn't mean flip-flopping, or that you lack principles.

Shapiro’s rhetoric reveals a man who is missing core beliefs, or who doesn’t respect voters enough to tell them the truth. Worse, it reveals a politician so hungry for office that he’s willing to adapt to almost any position – in the same campaign, in the same day – on all but those few things his political calculus tells him to hold dear…

… Shapiro wants to be governor. He wants to be president. It’s clear that he will say almost anything and adapt to almost any position…

… Shapiro needs to “pick a lane.” Otherwise, he could be a candidate without a constituency … and even an ex-governor.

Try as he might, Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) just can’t seal the deal with Pennsylvania voters.

Each year, Shapiro spends millions in Pennsylvania tax dollars to fund his 21-person public relations office , who are devoted to producing TikTok videos and relentlessly booking him cable television programs. As a result, Shapiro has received glowing coverage, with little scrutiny for his administration’s policy failures and ethical scandals that have left Pennsylvania struggling.

On top of more than three years of a multi-million-dollar taxpayer-funded public relations campaign, Shapiro has spent more than $3 million on statewide Pennsylvania television advertising promoting his administration over the last month alone. However, new polling from Quinnipiac University found Shapiro’s standing with voters is slipping.

According to Quinnipiac, Shapiro’s lead over State Treasurer Stacy Garrity (R-PA) fell by 5% at a time when Garrity has spent nothing on paid advertising. And despite Shapiro’s advertising focusing heavily on male voters, on topics ranging from apprenticeships to vocational education, those voters are clearly not buying what Shapiro is selling, because Garrity is beating Shapiro by 2% among male voters in the poll.

Most importantly, the poll shows that Garrity has room to grow, because nearly three in five voters do not have an opinion of her, while only 14% of voters do not have an opinion of Josh Shapiro. This is dangerous ground for Shapiro, who has held statewide elected office as the Commonwealth’s top cop for six years and chief executive for the past four.

Worse yet for Shapiro, Pennsylvania voters are restless. Just 7% of Quinnipiac poll respondents were “very satisfied” with the state of the Commonwealth, while 44% were either “very” or “somewhat” dissatisfied. It is clear Josh “get (stuff) done” Shapiro is not delivering for the 13 million Pennsylvanians he represents.

And it’s also clear that Shapiro knows his administration is a failure. Case in point: When Shapiro launched his campaign’s first statewide television advertisement, he focused on a program started by his predecessor – Gov. Tom Wolf (D-PA). The school meal program promoted by Shapiro was signed into law months before Shapiro ever took office, yet it was Shapiro who tried to take credit for it!

Shapiro is also having difficulty threading the needle between appealing to his liberal base and earning the votes of mainstream Pennsylvania voters. Nearly half of poll respondents (49%) say Democrats are “too far left,” while only 36% say they are “not too far.” Pennsylvania voters do not support the left-wing policies being pushed by the democratic socialist wing of the modern Democrat Party, yet these are exactly the activists Shapiro needs to court if he is to fulfill his life-long dream of running for President.

Stacy Garrity, on the other hand, is gaining on Shapiro because she is speaking to the concerns hardworking Pennsylvanians are feeling. Rather than speaking down to them from the Governor’s Mansion, Garrity is meeting directly with voters and local leaders to hear from them, collaborate with them, and discuss real solutions to the problems they are facing. Over the last month alone, Garrity has held seven townhall meetings across every media market in the Commonwealth, talking directly with voters on issues ranging from promoting small businesses to supporting our Veterans.

And Garrity’s commitment to voters has not been ignored. The more voters get to know Stacy Garrity, the more they like her. Garrity’s favorability rating rose by 6%, while her unfavorable rating remained steady despite a national environment that currently leans Democrat.

Polling is simply a validation for the growing support Garrity is feeling on the ground. She will not need to go dollar-for-dollar with Shapiro, but it is clear that with just over 100 days until Election Day, if she has the resources to compete, Stacy Garrity will give Josh Shapiro the political fight of his life. Buckle up!

Garrity Listens To Data Center Concerns While Shapiro Flip Flops

HARRISBURG, PA – Over the past month, State Treasurer and Republican nominee for Governor Stacy Garrity (R-PA) has done what Governor Josh Shapiro (D-PA) has refused to do: listen to the people of Pennsylvania.

Garrity has held five data center development listening sessions across Pennsylvania – from Wilkes-Barre Twp. in Northeast Pennsylvania to New Cumberland just outside Harrisburg , Hatfield in suburban Philadelphia to Cranberry Twp. in the exurbs of Pittsburgh , and just last Friday in Reading . The contrast between Garrity’s open dialogue with local and county leaders and Shapiro Harrisburg-knows-best policies could not be more different, and neither could either candidate’s consistency on the issue driving the discourse across Pennsylvania.

Less than a year ago, Josh Shapiro trumpeted Amazon’s plans to build $20 billion in AI infrastructure, with campuses in Salem Township and Falls Township – and additional Pennsylvania communities being targeted for data center investment. At the time, Shapiro proclaimed that he was “proud” of the Amazon project for data center projects in Luzerne and Bucks counties – saying his team “worked closely” with Amazon to “land this deal."

Now Josh Shapiro is singing a different tune on data centers. City & State called it an “evolution,” but the reality is that it’s a massive flip flop and attempt to sweep his “embrace” of data center development under the rug. As recently as February of this year, Josh Shapiro said Pennsylvania would lead the way in data center development during his 2026 budget address . Now, Shapiro claims to be putting guardrails on an industry he was championing just a few short months ago.

Unsurprisingly, Shapiro’s new standards do nothing to address the concerns raised by data center development or the sweetheart tax deals they already received – like those benefiting liberal billionaire Jeff Bezos. In addition to his leadership of Amazon, Bezos owns and operates The Washington Post , the paper of record for Democrat presidential candidates inside the DC Beltway, so it should shock absolutely no one that Shapiro would try to endear himself to Bezos in the lead up to the 2028 presidential primary election.

Whether at her January speech to the Pennsylvania Press Club, her April address to the Pennsylvania Independent Oil & Gas Association, or today - Stacy Garrity has spoken with one voice regarding data center development. She has repeated said that there needs to be:

Transparency and clear rules of the road need to be instituted.
Data center development demands thoughtful planning that focuses on affordable, reliable power that ensures development goals do not infringe on the needs of local communities.
Developers must bring their own water and energy generation.
Community engagement agreements must be signed with developers.
Ratepayers must be protected.
Local communities need to be protected through responsible noise ordinances.
Data center development restricted to industrial and brownfield sites, not residential areas, so they can provide added value to the communities that house them.
Local communities should have the final say on any data center development project because the people who live in the community should be those who determine their own future.

Because of the confusion created by the Shapiro Administration’s “all-things-to-all-people” data center development policy, Garrity is now calling for a pause in data center development to give communities the opportunity to update zoning laws. She will continue to discuss her plans and do what Josh Shapiro doesn’t, hear directly from the community leaders about the challenges they are facing.

Today, Melania and I join in prayer with Catholic Bishops gathered in Orlando, Florida, as they consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the occasion of our 250th year of American Independence—a powerful moment in our national story and a poignant reminder that America has always been guided by the loving hand of God.

Even in the centuries before the United States was conceived in nationhood, America was a land of prayer, a place of miracles, and home to some of the most faithful and devoted Christians to ever live. From the heroic bands of Christian missionaries, settlers, and explorers who tamed the unknown to spread the Gospel to the priests, chaplains, and churchgoers who forged our spirit in every generation since, the love of Jesus Christ has stood at the center of our identity and way of life.

Inspired by this proud birthright of faith, just years after the end of the Revolutionary War, Bishop John Carroll—the first Catholic bishop in the United States and cousin of Catholic Founding Father Charles Carroll—consecrated our young Republic to Mary, the Mother of God. Today, this grand legacy of faith in America reaches yet another historic milestone as America’s Catholic Bishops consecrate our Nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, during which they will prayerfully “celebrate the abundant gifts” that God has “given this nation, founded on the self-evident truths that our Creator has endowed all people with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” And following today’s consecration, on June 12, Christians in the United States and around the world will celebrate the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, a joyful celebration of God’s boundless love for all His creation.

This year’s Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus also fittingly marks the anniversary of one of the most momentous days in Western civilization’s long twilight struggle against atheistic communism. On June 12, 1987, President Ronald Reagan delivered his historic address at Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Germany, in which he famously implored Soviet General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev to “tear down this wall.”

Toward the end of his remarks, President Reagan identified what he called “the most fundamental distinction of all between East and West: The totalitarian world produces backwardness because it does such violence to the spirit, thwarting the human impulse to create, to enjoy, to worship.”

President Reagan recounted the construction by the communist East German government of a mighty television tower in the 1960s. “Virtually ever since,” Reagan said, “the authorities have been working to correct what they view as the tower’s one major flaw, treating the glass sphere at the top with paints and chemicals of every kind. Yet even today when the sun strikes that sphere, that sphere that towers over all Berlin, the light makes the sign of the cross. There in Berlin, like the city itself, symbols of love, symbols of worship, cannot be suppressed.”

On that very day, just over 200 miles away, Pope Saint John Paul II, the leader of the Roman Catholic Church, was speaking in his native Poland. On the Westerplatte peninsula, the place where, in an extraordinary display of heroic virtue, an isolated force of around 200 Polish warriors held out for 7 days against approximately 4,000 German troops attacking from sea, land, and air in the opening days of World War II, the Pope challenged a gathering of Polish youth: “Each of you, young friends, also finds your own ‘Westerplatte’ in life. A set of tasks that must be undertaken and fulfilled. A just cause that you cannot simply fail to fight for. A duty, an obligation, from which you cannot shirk. You cannot ‘desert.’ Finally—a certain order of truths and values that must be ‘upheld’ and ‘defended,’ just as at Westerplatte, within oneself and around oneself. Yes, defended—for oneself and for others.”

Pope Saint John Paul II closed by quoting the words of a Polish martyr. “More horrifying than a defeat of arms is the defeat of the human spirit.”

Thanks to the moral leadership of President Reagan and Pope Saint John Paul II, the tireless work and determination of free men and women around the world, and the moral witness of millions who endured prolonged suffering within the Captive Nations, the godless forces of Soviet communism were vanquished—and the human spirit triumphed.

Today, nearly four decades later, our Nation and our culture confront a new set of menacing ideologies seeking once again to cast God out from our society. But today, as Catholic Bishops consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in this 250th year of our Independence, we recommit ourselves, like President Reagan and Pope Saint John Paul II, to defending our spiritual identity and great civilizational inheritance. Garrity Details Plans To Unleash Pennsylvania’s Natural Gas

HARRISBURG, PA – During an address to the Marcellus Shale Coalition, Republican nominee for Governor and state Treasurer Stacy Garrity (R-PA) detailed her plans to unleash Pennsylvania’s natural gas industry and help Pennsylvania families struggling with rising utility bills under Josh Shapiro’s (D-PA) failed administration.

Highlights of the Garrity Plan:

On Day One, sign an executive order to lift the outdated ban on new drilling sites;
Call a Special Session of the legislature on energy to fast-track permits for natural gas production, pipelines, and powerplants.
Eliminate duplicative and outdated regulations.
Set firm timelines for permit approvals.
Reform (or potentially eliminate) renewable energy and efficiency mandates.

Today, approximately 120,000 Pennsylvania jobs are tied to the natural gas industry; however, just a decade ago there were more than 300,000 jobs tied to Pennsylvania natural gas. The Garrity Plan will expand energy generation capacity and spur downstream manufacturing, resulting in more than 200,000 jobs and $6 billion in revenue for the Commonwealth.

Pennsylvania stands as the number one net electricity exporter to the PJM grid, with almost 60% of that generation comes exclusively from natural gas – a share of electric generation that has quadrupled in the past 15 years. However, the Shapiro Administration has instituted a cap on the price electricity can be sold at auction. Because PJM operates on a market driven basis, Shapiro’s price cap does not fix the problem, it only exacerbates it.

Before the cap, states that did not send their fair share of energy to the grid paid a surcharge. With Shapiro’s cap in place, states with failed energy policies like Virginia and Maryland are getting a free ride on the backs of Pennsylvania ratepayers.

Under a Garrity-Richey administration, Pennsylvania consumers will no longer be forced to pay for the failed policies of our neighboring states. Stacy Garrity will lead an aggressive campaign with PJM and FERC to ensure that every state sends their fair share of energy to the grid, or they will face a penalty for relying on other energy generators.

Utility bills have become one of the greatest burdens facing Pennsylvania families, and today, Pennsylvania’s Gross Receipts Tax on electricity is a hidden surcharge costing families and businesses over $1 billion every year. Garrity’s plan eliminates it entirely, saving the average family of four an estimated $400 in the first year, growing to $900 annually. And the revenue will come from increased economic development from the drilling industry.

Likewise, Pennsylvania utility bills will be required to clearly itemize every charge: from generation costs to transmission fees, distribution charges, and all taxes so customers know exactly what they pay and why. A standardized bill format across all utilities will make it easier to compare rates. Garrity will direct the PUC to create a public dashboard to track historical rate trends and utility performance, with all rate or tax changes clearly communicated in advance.

SCRANTON, PA — The Bresnahan for Congress campaign today congratulated Paige Cognetti on earning the endorsement of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, an organization representing nearly 200,000 teachers and educators, including the 89 Scranton specialty program teachers Cognetti voted to lay off in December 2017 before abandoning her school board seat entirely just twelve months later.

Garrity Calls On Shapiro To Secure Our Elections

HARRISBURG, PA – Following the news out of Philadelphia that an illegal immigrant, who has been in the United States for three decades, illegally voted in every federal election since 2008, the Garrity for PA Campaign called on Governor Josh Shapiro (D-PA) to take commonsense steps to secure Pennsylvania’s elections.

As reported by FOX News , an illegal immigrant from Africa, who voted in every federal election since 2008, was arrested for voter fraud in Philadelphia. The illegal immigrant, Mahady Sacko, a Mauritanian citizen, entered the United States in 1998 and was initially ordered to be removed by an immigration judge in 2000; however, he did not leave the country following the dismal of his appeal in 2002. Sacko was subsequently arrested in 2007 but was not deported because he did not have a Mauritanian passport. Instead, Sacko was put under supervision and required to regularly report to ICE offices.

While in the country illegally, Sacko registered to vote in 2005 and, according to Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Department of State records, voted in the 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024 federal elections – including voting in the 2016 and 2020 primary elections. Of note, Sacko voted by mail in the 2020 primary election.

One fraudulent vote is one too many, yet Josh Shapiro has refused to support commonsense laws to secure our elections. While dragging his feet and waffling regarding a Pennsylvania Voter ID law, he has opposed federal efforts to implement a national Voter ID law.

Josh Shapiro needs to:

Call on the legislature to pass and sign into law a commonsense Voter ID law for the Commonwealth to ensure the promise of one person, one vote is protected in Pennsylvania. According to Pew Research Center , 83% of Americans favor requiring all voters to show a government-issued photo ID to vote – including 71% of Democrats. A Gallup poll found similar results, with 84% of Americans supporting requiring photo ID to vote – including 67% of Democrats. This same Gallup poll found that 83% of Americans support requiring proof of citizen when registering to vote for the first time – something that would have stopped Mr. Sacko from ever casting a ballot.
Institute new protocols to coordinate with federal immigration enforcement to ensure Pennsylvania’s voter rolls do not have illegal immigrants or anyone who otherwise should not qualify to vote. Currently, Pennsylvania requires a driver’s license number or the last four digits of your Social Security number, which the Commonwealth uses to verify voter status. It is clear that this process is flawed. Josh Shapiro needs to put his personal animus toward the President aside, work with the Trump Administration, and do what is right for Pennsylvania.

These are easy, commonsense, popular steps Josh Shapiro can take to give voters confidence in their vote and protect our elections. It’s past time Josh Shapiro did his job for the people he was elected to represent.

Shapiro Shamelessly Plays Politics Using Pennsylvania Tax Dollars… Again

HARRISBURG, PA – The Garrity for PA Campaign issued the following statement after the latest political grandstanding by Governor Josh Shapiro in his attempt to play to national liberals at the expense of Pennsylvania taxpayers .

Stacy Garrity said: “Josh Shapiro is absolutely shameless. Press conferences and coordination of multiple cabinet secretaries isn’t cheap, and making a public spectacle before the appropriate paperwork has even been filed by the federal government is at best premature and at worst grandstanding for cheap headlines at the public’s expense. The establishment of facilities like those being discussed in Schuylkill and Berks counties warrant serious review, and Josh Shapiro’s administration’s off-handed rejection and public indignation is a disservice to the seriousness of the issue at hand.”

This week, the Shapiro Administration made several public appearances and statements opposing the federal government’s interest in establishing ICE detention facilities in Berks and Schuylkill counties. In her statement today, Shapiro’s Secretary of Environmental Protection Jessica Shirley said: “Environmental protection and public safety cannot be afterthoughts in the pursuit of political posturing, and the Shapiro Administration opposes ICE detention centers that will clearly harm Pennsylvanians and our environment.”

Labor & Industry Secretary Nancy Walker would admit in the Shapiro Administration’s press release that they had not yet received the federal Department of Homeland Security’s complete plans for either facility; so, by making her statement, Secretary Shirley – a state official who is on official public time – made the issue political by rejecting the facilities outright without review.

“It should surprise absolutely no one that Josh Shapiro is playing to his liberal base on an issue as important as our homeland security. As a Montgomery County Commissioner, Josh Shapiro led the county into sanctuary-style status. Then as Attorney General and Governor, Josh Shapiro wholeheartedly supported cooperating with Joe Biden’s ICE. But now that Donald Trump is President, Josh Shapiro has flipped again for political expedience,” continued Garrity.

“Pennsylvanians deserve a governor who will put their security and their safety first, and a governor who will review issues with the seriousness that they deserve and not follow the political winds as their guide. I commanded one of the largest enemy internment camps in Iraq, I understand the seriousness of protecting our nation from threats, and I also appreciate the importance of treating those in care and custody with dignity and respect – and none of that entails political posturing like Josh Shapiro displayed this week,” concluded Garrity.

HARRISBURG – The pressure continued to build on Governor Josh Shapiro (D-PA) to return monies donated by known Jeffrey Epstein associate Reid Hoffman. In a second investigative report into Shapiro’s relationship with Hoffman, PennLive uncovered an additional $500,000 donation from Hoffman to Shapiro in December 2025 – bringing the grand total donated by Hoffman to over $2 million.

Stacy Garrity has called on Shapiro to return Hoffman’s donations. Hoffman has been a known associate of convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein for nearly 7 years, and in that time, Hoffman has made multiple mega-donations to Shapiro’s political campaign totaling more than $2 million.

Garrity said: “Josh Shapiro has never met a reporter he won’t talk to, but now he’s gone silent when asked about the more than $2 million he’s received from convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein’s travel buddy Reid Hoffman. This week we learned that Hoffman was mentioned over 2,500 times in the newly released Epstein files. If Josh Shapiro truly cares about the victims of sexual abuse, he needs to man up, return Hoffman’s money, and disavow his liberal sugar daddy.”

Community Petition Raises Transparency and Ethics Questions in Stroudsburg Borough

Residents of Stroudsburg are coming together to call for greater transparency and accountability in local government through a newly updated public petition. The petition asks for an independent review of recent events and governance practices that have raised questions under Pennsylvania’s Borough Code and the Public Official and Employee Ethics Act.

Since the petition began, concerns have been raised regarding potential conflicts of interest, incompatible offices, revolving-door employment, and the handling of election-related matters. In particular, attention has focused on the sequence of events involving the Mayor being sworn in, subsequently resigning, and then accepting a paid Borough position, as well as publicly circulated audio that references election-related decision-making. While no conclusions have been made, many residents believe these circumstances merit careful review to ensure public trust is protected.

The petition serves as a way for community members to respectfully express their desire for ethical governance and clear, lawful processes. It also emphasizes the importance of open dialogue, transparency, and public participation in Borough affairs.
