PITTSTON, PA — Congressman Rob Bresnahan’s campaign today announced that he has earned the endorsement of Boilermakers Local Lodge No. 13, representing skilled tradespeople who build and maintain the critical infrastructure that powers communities across Pennsylvania and the rest of the country. “Rob has proven time and again that he is a steadfast champion for working people. He understands that the strength of our economy depends on the strength of our workforce, including fair wages, comprehensive benefits, and the dignity that comes with union membership,” said Brad Mickatavage, Business Manager/Secretary-Treasurer of Boilermakers Local Lodge No. 13 . “His unwavering support for expanding union membership and collective bargaining rights makes him an ideal representative for workers, not just in Northeastern Pennsylvania, but across the nation.” The full endorsement letter can be viewed HERE . Boilermakers Local 13, affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers & Helpers, represents skilled tradespeople responsible for constructing, maintaining, and repairing boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, and other critical energy infrastructure across eastern Pennsylvania and northern Delaware. The Local’s endorsement reflects Bresnahan’s commitment to protecting union jobs, and demonstrates his strength with working class, union voters who are increasingly fed up with the top-down liberal policies of national Democrats. “I’m honored to earn the endorsement of Boilermakers Local 13 and the hardworking men and women they represent,” said Congressman Rob Bresnahan . “Boilermakers are essential to our energy infrastructure. They build it, maintain it, and keep it running. As someone who built my career working alongside union labor, I know firsthand that addressing our energy future must go hand in hand with protecting skilled tradespeople and the good-paying union careers that sustain our communities.” Boilermakers Local 13 joins a large and growing coalition of labor organizations supporting Bresnahan’s re-election, including: Amalgamated Transit Union (Endorsement announcement HERE ) ATU Local 164 ATU Local 1119 ATU Local 168 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 163 (Endorsement letter HERE ) International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1319 (Endorsement letter HERE ) International Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen (Endorsement letter HERE ) International Union of Operating Engineers Local 542 (Endorsement letter HERE ) Pennsylvania Laborers’ District Council (Endorsement letter HERE ) LIUNA Local 130 LIUNA Local 158 LIUNA Local 1174 LIUNA Local 1310 Bresnahan was also awarded the “ Outstanding New Member of Congre ss ” honor by the American Federation of Government Employees. Bresnahan Campaign Releases Statement on PSEA Endorsement of Paige Cognetti SCRANTON, PA — The Bresnahan for Congress campaign today congratulated Paige Cognetti on earning the endorsement of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, an organization representing nearly 200,000 teachers and educators, including the 89 Scranton specialty program teachers Cognetti voted to lay off in December 2017 before abandoning her school board seat entirely just twelve months later. “We are truly in awe,” said Peter Brath, Bresnahan campaign spokesperson. “In December 2017, Paige Cognetti voted to pass a $157 million budget that laid off 89 teachers in specialty programs like art and music over the objections of parents, students, and the teachers union itself. Then, twelve months later, she resigned from the school board mid-term to take a political appointment in Harrisburg. Now that same union is endorsing her for Congress. We genuinely tip our cap.” PSEA President Aaron Chapin praised Cognetti for ensuring “educators and support professionals are respected and treated fairly.” Scranton parents who stood up at that December 2017 board meeting and begged the board not to cut their children's art and music teachers may remember it differently. “Congressman Bresnahan has never voted to cut a single teacher's job.” continued the Bresnahan campaign spokesperson. “He has never abandoned an elected post. And he isn't asking the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania to forget what he's actually done. Paige Cognetti is asking voters to do exactly that.” The Record November 2017: School board approves contract including 23 layoffs of maintenance and clerical workers, effective July 1, 2018 — before Cognetti's appointment but setting the context for the board she joined. December 2017: Cognetti votes unanimously with the board to pass the 2018 budget — over citizen and union opposition — including layoffs of 89 specialty program teachers and a $3.5 million deficit. (WNEP, 12/28/17) December 2018: Cognetti resigns from the school board mid-term to accept a political appointment as special assistant to Pennsylvania Auditor General Eugene DePasquale. This week, Josh Shapiro is starring in a TV ad. It's not an ad about fixing Pennsylvania’s problems. It's not an ad about lowering your costs. And it's not an ad about the multi-billion dollar deficit. A six-figure TV ad for his handpicked congressional candidate. That’s right — the Governor of Pennsylvania is personally recruiting candidates across the state, endorsing them, headlining their fundraisers, and now appearing in their campaign commercials. All to build a résumé for a presidential run in 2028. This isn’t speculation. Axios reported that Shapiro’s strategy is to “engineer a blowout” for Democrats in the midterms to prove he can deliver Pennsylvania — and use that as his ticket to the White House. Think about that for a second. He found the time and money for a TV commercial to help his political allies. But what has he done for you lately? ❌ Gas is over $4 a gallon ❌ Utility bills keep climbing ❌ The state’s deficit keeps growing No six-figure ad campaigns to address any of that. No urgency. No plan. Josh Shapiro isn’t governing. He’s campaigning — for a job he hasn’t told you he wants yet. Pennsylvania deserves a Governor who is focused on Pennsylvania, not Pennsylvania Avenue.
